Why Visibility is Key for Your Business
By Vicki – Ashore VA

I had such a great experience speaking at the July Connect Exeter event and couldn’t have chosen a better group of women to speak to if I’d tried!

Even though I’m a natural loud-and-chatty type, when it came to my own business, I actually went into hiding to start with! So it was so great to share how getting visible, talking to people, networking (and overhauling my wardrobe) has opened up so many opportunities for me – and now being in business is a joy.

I hope I was able to remind everyone that visibility isn’t about perfection; it’s about being seen, being remembered, and building a community around what you do. It’s about letting your unique personality shine through, even if it means talking about your cats!

In my full blog post, I dig deeper into why visibility is such an important — and often overlooked — part of running a successful business. Here are a few of the key points I shared:

  • Visibility is more than just showing up online. It’s about being consistent, trustworthy, and human — across everything you do.

  • Your personality is your superpower. People want to work with people. When you let your real self come through in your content and conversations, you attract the right audience.

  • Content doesn’t need to be complicated. Sometimes a simple update, a behind-the-scenes snap, or a story about your pets can be more powerful than polished sales talk.

  • Consistency beats perfection. You don’t need to post every day or show up everywhere. But showing up somewhere, regularly, helps people remember and trust you.

  • Networking (yes, really) works. Building real-life relationships — like at Connect Exeter! — can open doors you didn’t even know existed.

If you’ve ever felt like hiding behind your laptop or doubted whether anyone’s even noticing your efforts, I promise you: visibility makes a difference. Not just for your business, but for your confidence too.
