What do you get when you put a dozen women in business into a room together, and set them the challenge of curating a month’s worth of social media content ideas?

If you had asked me this 6 months ago: I wouldn’t have been able to answer that question.

I certainly had hoped that the outcome would be a positive one… but it was an untested hypothesis at that point. Something that had been wriggling away at the back of my mind, itching to escape. An idea that might have been fleeting, and lost forever, had I not reached out to Lisa Eastwood to run the concept by her.

And what a concept it was!

A Social Media Bootcamp that would run on a monthly basis, bringing women in business together; tasking them with curating a month’s worth of social media post ideas through a series of activities and challenges, and ending each session with the task of auditing each other’s work.

Would something like this work? Would people even be interested in taking part? What happens if no one signs up?

Well, In the last 6 weeks, I’ve watched this concept come to life in bigger ways than I could have possibly imagined; but before I get ahead of myself, let’s go back to earlier this spring when that could-have-been-fleeting-idea was set into motion.

It started with an email to Lisa, who is a friend now – but was, at the time, a complete stranger. I was aware of Lyme Bay Ladies, but I hadn’t had the chance to participate in the community yet. With nothing to lose, I sent Lisa an email, and shortly after we were losing track of time over brunch up at symondsbury estate.

A week later, we were meeting up again, this time with Rachel at the LSI center in Bridport to discuss my Content Compass Bootcamp idea – and get some dates in the books.

As most of you already know, when you get like minded business women together to discuss ideas… time just flies!

We all got on like a house on fire, and before the end of the meeting we had not only penciled in the first 5 dates of my Content Compass Bootcamp idea, but also a Women’s Networking Event/Launch party, with guest speakers from the community. The launch event was a raving success, by the way, and a day I wish I could live all over again. So many inspiring women in one place!

But, back to the bootcamps 😉

I can’t believe I’m writing this, but we’ve already successfully held the first 2 bootcamps!

Both sessions have been filled with an eclectic mix of businesses led by phenomenal women, from the Dorset and Devon area. Everyone has been rising to the challenges that are put in front of them… and surpassing all my expectations for involvement, might I add!

Through a variety of improvisation games, 60 second pitches, and creative limitation challenges: we have all stepped outside of our comfort zones and pushed ourselves to CREATE something from absolutely nothing. Proving to ourselves, and each other, that there is always something that can be said, and a story we can tell – even when we feel like we don’t have anything to talk about.

A powerful tool, especially in the world of social media.

I have walked away from each session feeling inspired, impressed and proud of the women who show up for themselves and their businesses. Honored that they trust me with every bizarre activity I send their way, and humbled by their brilliant minds.

So, to return to my opening question:

What do you get when you put a dozen women in business into a room together, and set them the challenge of curating a month’s worth of social media content ideas?

Magic.

Utter magic.

This tiny idea that could have been forgotten has now grown into something I can’t picture my life without. Thank you Lisa, and Rachel, for nurturing this concept, and helping me bring it to life.

Registration is nearly full for the remaining 3 bootcamp dates – so be quick if you want to get on the list!
