The room was buzzing as we met for our last Exeter Connect for 2025! Our new venue The Jack in the Green is just perfect and they really look after us so we are excited that we will be continuing there for 2026.
 
Our guest speaker was LBL Ambassador for Sustainable Business – Adela Mei
 
Adela, a digital strategist, discussed her seven keys to online business success, emphasising the importance of a well-designed website with engaging content, effective email communication, and leveraging social media platforms like LinkedIn for authority building.
 
She highlighted the role of AI in search engines, such as ChatGPT, and the significance of press and PR for third-party validation. Adela also stressed the importance of collaborations, networking, and sustainable business practices. She concluded by encouraging businesses to integrate these elements into a cohesive strategy to enhance their online presence and AI search visibility.
 
7 Steps
  1. Website
    Your “glorified business card” with juicy, meaningful content that both humans and AI search can understand and match to the right people.
  2. Emails
    Using newsletters, individual emails, and opt-ins to stay top of mind, nurture relationships, and keep people in your world without overwhelming them.
  3. Social Media
    Choosing key platforms (e.g. LinkedIn for authority building) rather than being everywhere, and posting content AI search can use as signals of who you are and what you do.
  4. Press and PR
    Third-party validation via press features, awards, and especially trade press, to build authority and give AI more credible sources confirming you are who you say you are.
  5. Collaborations, Networking and Forums
    In-person and online networking (e.g. Live Aid Ladies website, Facebook group) plus follow-ups and collaborations that expand your visibility and digital footprint.
  6. Videos, YouTube and Podcasts
    Creating or guesting on content (especially podcasts and YouTube) so AI can find you in more places and connect you to related topics and audiences.
  7. Sustainability (Sustainable Strategy)
    A simple, sustainable marketing system you can actually maintain (or outsource), balancing structure with intuition so you don’t burn out with stop-start bursts of activity.
