What a wonderful evening at Axminster Printing  – Thank you Jane Rockett.

Tucked away down the alleyway off the main street in Axminster is this family run printers and stationers. The ladies were treated to drinks & nibbles and a tour of the ‘factory’ floor to see the incredible array of machines and products they produce. We saw samples of printed work they had produced – items such as waterproof menus, calendars, printed canvas, greetings card, tent fold business cards, brochures and booklets. Keith gave us several demonstrations of various machines in action such as  high powered guillotine, the platen machine, plate maker and folding machine. Everyone asked lots of questions about print processes and the history behind the family business. They also explained how times had changed due to advances in technology and introduction of digital print. There was also surprise at how labour intensive some of the jobs were.

We browsed in the shop, which is an Aladin’s Cave of treasures, and took away some some special offers brochures. Jane highlighted the fact that they sell first aid boxes and products like back supports. foot rests and monitor risers as well and showed us the new Rhodia brightly coloured notebooks. The comment ‘I didn’t know you sold that’ would have to be the phrase of the evening!

Nothing is too much trouble so if you have something you need producing just ask!

I really encourage you to pop in and take a look and always support local business wherever you can.
